Foundations and backgrounds
(Handbook and workbook)
This basic volume gives heritage language teachers up-to-date information on contemporary teaching. The topics cover pedagogy, methodology and didactics. In particular, the special challenges of heritage language teaching, forms of assessment and cooperation with mainstream schools are discussed.
The 16 contributions were written by notable specialists in the field. Each topic includes best practice examples and tips given by experienced heritage language teachers from five different countries on how to implement the material. A set of questions at the end of each chapter helps the reader to reflect on key aspects. The book is suitable for self-study, but also for initial teacher training or for the professional development of heritage language teachers.
